BIBLE
5th Grade
By accepting God's Word as divinely inspired, the students will see it as the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creed and religious opinion should be tried. Because God is all powerful, all knowing, all wise and all truth, the students will learn of His plan of salvation from sin through the redemptive work of His Son, Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection from the dead. They will then be able to look forward to Christ's personal return to the earth and the resurrection of the believers to spend eternity with Him. The students will understand that it is the responsibility of the Christian to pass this information on to others. The students will focus on the faithfulness of God through His people in their new surroundings, as witnessed by Ezekiel, Daniel, Esther, and Haggai and Zechariah; and the instructions given to His faithful people recorded in Nehemiah, Malachi, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Job and Ecclesiastes. Following Biblical history, the study of Hebrews, I & II Peter, and Jude.
6th Grade
Drawing from the entire Word of God, sixth grade students learn that the principles of God specifically affect their lives. Studies are drawn from characters in both the Old and New Testaments and the life of Christ. Also included is an overview of the book of Revelation. One of the goals is to encourage the students to yield to the Holy Spirit's work in their lives to conform them to the image of Jesus Christ while going beyond factual knowledge of the Scriptures to grow in wisdom, understanding, and application. Students learn to find answers in the Word of God for themselves. All lessons focus on the development of internal character through biblical examples and truth i. e. God's design and purpose for us, being in God's will, reputation and character, and learning to stand up for what is right even when it is unpopular. The ultimate goal of the sixth grade Bible curriculum is for students to personalize the life principles taught, develop convictions based on the Word of God, and to live according to those convictions as they interact with others.
